What's the point of view of the Poem "Medusa" by Benilda S. Santos?

it is from medusa's point of view, but it does confuse me because it sounds like when medusa and poisiden were having relations in aphrodites temple, and then aphrodite gets ticked and turns medusa into this creature, that's how medusa became the way she is, but this poem ends up not sounding like this at all and, I do not know what ares has to do with medusa in mythology
