According to the Norman historian Gerald de Barri the coronation ritual in 12th century Ireland required the the Irish king to publicly have with a white horse, slaughter it and then take a bath in a stew made from its remains. Did the catholic clergy approve?!!? What does an Irish president have to do to be inaugurated?? Source: Expugnatio Hibernica.
