Would you consider this "tacky?"...?

Wal-mart would not be tacky. I've had friends who have registered there. It's a perfectly sensible place. Give people a couple of choices. Do Wmart and BBB or Linens in things or JCPenney or Sears. Or if the inlaws are well off - go to a fancy place too and register for some things.
