Have you ever skimmed through a book and then tried writing an essay on it?

I wrote an exam essay on Middlemarch in university. I never even started reading the book. Didn't read a summary of it. Didn't watch a movie of it. I just listened to what the prof said in the seminars and regurgitated. Finished the course with an A. Good times.
